It's worth visiting for the building and atmosphere! Beautiful! And a gorgeous log fire burning.
Only called for coffee and cake - and that's where it fell down a bit for me. I just wanted cake. Two layers. Cream in the middle. Icing on top. Not really bothered what flavour. And they had nothing. Other choices yes - but no 'cake'. I have a medical condition (caused by a lot of radiotherapy) which has left me with dysphagia and my cake needs to be moist. I thought the stollen would be okay (Sainsbury's is great) but it wasn't. It was sadly dry - even with dips of coffee. Had to swap it for my husband's Bakewell cake (to his dismay) and then leave the pastry. Such a shame. The coffee was good, the staff were pleasant and it was spotlessly clean
It is obviously very popular and deservedly so. The bill came to just over £13 for a large latte, a flat white and two cakes. You can't complain at that.
I would recommend that people visit and I would possibly go again and hope that they have 'cake'. Maybe once the mince pies, Christmas cake and stollen are over.

Very nice little tea ship attached to a museum .
The museum is ok, but the tea shop is a delight.
Just had a carrot cake and a pot of Earl Grey.
Plenty of space inside, but very busy.
However.....quite cheap...pot of tea and cake £6.
Lovely area as well

Stopped for a quick loo break but obviously bought coffee and cake. Sadly the museum was shut but the building is so lovely to sit in and a lot of history to it.
Hubby said the jewelled fruit cake was delicious

Came here from a recommendation from our campsite and it did not disappoint.
Dog friendly, have a lovely secret garden to sit in and the food we ordered was delicious the one problem then was we were too full to try enjoy one of their amazing looking homemade cakes,
Also a great gluten free selection available.
Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Settle.

What a gem of a find.
Popped in for a brew and scone, the scones were amazingly fresh and the coffee was delish, all set in a beautiful 17th century building.
There is also a secret garden.
A bonus is the little museum with friendly informative staff explaining a little history of the building.
Definitely worth a visit and seeking out this gem of a place is worth the effort.

Enjoyed the best vegan afternoon tea we've had since moving to the Dales. We called on the off chance they could fit us in (despite it not being 24hrs notice) and were delighted to get a booking.
Heather couldn't do enough for us from service through to some recipe ideas. Such a helpful lady despite being really busy. The vegan cheese/chive scones are so light and tasty. The sandwich fillings were varied and the cakes home-made and absolutely delicious.
The Folly is a beautiful, historical building and has a relaxed atmosphere. Great place to meet for a coffee. Well worth a stop off on the Settle - Carlisle line. We will certainly return for another take-away of the savoury scones - great baking skills Freida! ?

May I suggest when serving toasted tea cakes they arrive with you hot and the butter is not frozen. it makes buttering impossible and they taste so much better hot.

Wonderful dog friendly cafe. Clean and spacious. Good coffee in decorative cups and saucers (large or regular).
Very impressed with the Scallywags (a dark, fruity type scone) bursting with flavours. Also, the cheese sandwich was spot-on.
They even have North Riding Brewery beers (bottles) as part of their alcoholic beverages range.
Friendly atmosphere, popular with locals and walkers and set in a large historic building.
The cafe itself is a means of charitable support for the building and museum.
The entrance to the cafe is up about 3 steps. At the front of the building. So, wheelchair access will probably be difficult (But, check this, as they may have a contingency plan in operation).
