I recently had the pleasure of dining at Wood Fire Pizza Restaurant and indulging in their signature Penthouse Pizza. Let me tell you, it was an experience worth raving about!
The Penthouse Pizza at Wood Fire is a masterpiece. Cooked to perfection in their traditional wood-fired oven, every bite was a delightful blend of flavors. The crust was crisp yet tender, with a wonderful smoky aroma that only a wood-fired oven can impart. Topped with a delicious combination of fresh ingredients, each ingredient shone through without overwhelming the others. It's evident that the chefs here take great pride in their craft.
Apart from the outstanding food, the service was impeccable. The staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. They made excellent recommendations and ensured that our dining experience was seamless from start to finish.
The atmosphere of the restaurant added to the overall enjoyment of the evening. The cozy yet vibrant ambiance, coupled with the inviting aroma of pizzas baking in the wood-fired oven, created the perfect setting for a memorable meal.
In conclusion, Wood Fire Pizza Restaurant exceeded my expectations in every way. If you're looking for a place with phenomenal wood-fired pizzas, excellent service, and a great atmosphere, look no further than Wood Fire. I can't wait to return and try more of their enticing menu offerings.
In addition Lindsy the bartender took great care of us. My friend and I had a couple IPA's but her service and astute attention to our needs was excellent!

We called and the restaurant was able to get to work us in even thought it was a Saturday during the peak holiday. We walked in and were promptly sat down and got our food very quickly and it was perfectly cooked and fresh. The portions sizes were generous & they had great vegetarian options. The food was delicious. Monet was a friendly and attentive waitress. 10/10 recommend.

First time here as I only recently moved to Albemarle.
Atmosphere is ok. Could use a bit more life, character, and maybe a touch of color. Definitely do not expect to watch a game here(I realize it is not a sports bar - but 2 TINY tvs?)
Ordered an appetizer - Caprese.Fresh mozzarella, tomato, basil, and a balsamic glaze.
It was ok. Could use a bit more balsamic. Overall, it's not bad.
Ordered the The Penthouse Pizza (minus the pepperoni and prosciutto).
Nice crust. I liked the flavor of it. The sauce was not bad. Thankfully, it was definitely not sweet, which I do not like. Cannot complain. I ate all but 2 slices!

The bartender was Lindsay. She was on point. Very pleasant and helpful.
(She was good enough for me to tip her 50% if that gives you any idea)
She is the type of server that would bring people back multiple times. I was a bartender for many years. She is a keeper.

I would definitely go back to try other pizzas and perhaps 1 or 2 other dishes.

We went for lunch so service was a little slow, but we really enjoyed the food! I got the chicken salad sandwich and my husband got a pizza. For dessert, we split the peach cobbler. Everything was really great! Especially loved the fries and ranch!

I will start this review off by saying you have to give them a try no doubt about it. With that being said I will give you my experience. When we walked in we were welcomed and seated quickly. Austin was our server and he did an amazing job hands down. The Food was amazing as well. Everything was out in a timely manner so you don't have to worry about how long it will take your food to come out. Austin was very good about giving us an update on things as they were coming out. Not to just brag on Austin I will also say everyone seems to be in sync with each other. Everyone seems to help out to make sure customers are well taken care of which I love to see in a restaurant. It really takes up the experience to know that you are going to be well taken care of. I will end by saying check out the pictures and go give Christine's Wood Fire ? a try!!

My wife and I had a date night with another couple and we had a fabulous time. “Psi” (spelling?) the General Manager made this first occasion spectacular and welcoming for all of us. It”s a must that you visit and have a wonderful time.

In the bustling kitchen of Christine's Firehouse Restaurant, chorizo was not just an ingredient but a secret weapon. Chef Matt believed in the transformative power of this Spanish sausage. Its smoky paprika-infused flavor could turn a simple dish into a culinary delight.

One rainy evening, amidst the sizzle of pans and clatter of plates, Chef Matt experimented with a new creation: Chorizo Meatloaf. She blended ground chorizo with tender beef, adding caramelized onions, garlic, and a hint of herbs. The aroma filled the kitchen, drawing the curiosity of her sous chefs.

As the meatloaf baked to perfection, the flavors melded into a symphony of savory notes. The chorizo imparted a robust, slightly spicy kick that danced on the palate. Each slice revealed a juicy, tender interior, encased in a caramelized crust that promised culinary bliss.

Word of Chef Matt Chorizo Meatloaf spread like wildfire through the town. Diners flocked to the restaurant, eager to taste this innovative twist on a classic comfort food. The first bite was a revelation – rich, flavorful, and utterly satisfying. It was a meatloaf unlike any other, where chorizo elevated the dish to gourmet heights.

Guests savored each forkful, marveling at how chorizo could seamlessly complement the hearty meatloaf. Some even declared it as "decadent," a fitting tribute to Chef Matt culinary ingenuity.

At Christine's Firehouse Restaurant, chorizo wasn't just an ingredient – it was the star that transformed a simple meatloaf into a masterpiece. Each bite told a story of passion, creativity, and a deep appreciation for bold flavors. For those fortunate enough to experience it, the Chorizo Meatloaf was not just a meal, but a journey into the heart of inventive dining. This is a must try at Christine’s! Ask when they are offering this special again! Absolutely phenomenal.

You are going to have to taste the Johnny Rose Cocktail! An absolute amazing blend of alcohol, juices and herbs. it’s decadent!

Update 8/4/23: made it back for cocktails and pizza. Everything I tried was great. And the shrimp dip was my favorite. That espresso martini is yum!

Original review:
A lovely atmosphere in such a cool historical building. I tried the meatballs for an app. They were quite large and had a good taste. They were a little greasy, but otherwise tasted quite good.
For my entree, I had the Filet, medium rare. It was quite tasty. Cooked just the way I like. A lovely season on the outside. My side was veggies which included carrots and broccoli.
My friends had salmon, flat iron steak and crab cake. I didn't try any of it but it looked great.
Their wine list was pretty good, with some higher end stuff which made me happy!
I'll be back...in a couple days. Great spot.

Follow-up edit:
Don’t walk- Run to this place for the most outstanding service and food.
We ordered a blueberry and lemon drop martini, sugar cookie draft both were phenomenal! We shared a bowl of crab and shrimp chowder, that had wonderful flavor, a tad of spice. We then shared the Chicken Breast with Crabcake and Lemon Garlic sauce which was very moist- You always worry about chicken breast being dry. The star of the show, was the Herbi pizza and the wood fired peaches dessert. We got there at 5:15 and hardly anyone was there, by 6:00 it was packed!

I have heard so many good things about this place! I can’t wait to post pics and updates of our personal experience! Will be here in a few weeks!
